Before you write to us

Questions couples ask us.

Is Guatemala safe for our wedding and our guests?
Antigua Guatemala is a UNESCO World Heritage city that receives international visitors year-round and has a dedicated tourism police presence. Our couples and their guests travel with private, pre-arranged transport from the airport onward — no one is ever working out logistics on their own. On our first call we will walk you through exactly what your guests will experience, from landing at La Aurora to the last night.
Will our Guatemalan marriage be legally valid at home?
Guatemala is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, so your marriage certificate can be apostilled and is recognized in every other member country without further legalization. We manage that process for you. We always recommend confirming the specific filing requirements with your own local authority, and we will tell you exactly what to ask them.
How long does the apostille process take?
The timeline depends on which documents your country issues and how quickly they arrive. We start the process the moment you book, so it is never the thing holding up your date, and you receive a written document checklist with deadlines on day one.
How do our guests get to Antigua?
Everyone flies into La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City (GUA). Antigua is roughly an hour by road; Lake Atitlán is roughly three. We arrange private transfers for every arrival, so your guests are met at the terminal rather than negotiating with taxis in a language they may not speak.
What does a wedding here actually cost?
Our weddings start at approximately $600 USD per guest, all in — venue, catering, staff, floral design, coordination and the full legal process. A 60-guest wedding therefore begins around $36,000 USD. Every wedding is quoted individually after we understand your vision, and you will see the full breakdown before you sign anything.
We only have six months. Is that enough?
Twelve months is comfortable. Six is workable — we have done it. Church ceremonies in Antigua can require up to ten months of lead time, so a shorter timeline narrows which venues are available rather than ruling out the wedding. We will tell you honestly on the first call what is still open for your date.
When is the best time of year to get married in Guatemala?
The dry season runs November through April and is the most popular window. May through October brings afternoon rain, which is why we build a covered contingency into every outdoor plan regardless of the month. Green-season weddings are also noticeably less expensive, and the landscape is at its most dramatic.
Can we get married in a Catholic church as foreigners?
Yes. Antigua's churches accept foreign couples, but the requirements are specific — pre-matrimonial courses, proclamations, and documentation from your home parish, translated and certified. We manage the correspondence with the parish here and with your own priest, so nothing is lost between two languages.
Do we need to visit Guatemala before the wedding?
It is not required. Many of our couples arrive for the first time the week of the wedding. We run venue walkthroughs by video, send photography and floor plans of every option, and handle tastings with detailed documentation. If you can visit, we will build the trip around venue visits and a tasting.
Where do our guests stay?
Antigua and Lake Atitlán both have boutique hotels and private villas across a wide range of budgets. We negotiate room blocks so your guests book at a held rate, and we produce a guest information document with options, prices and walking distances that you can send with your invitations.
How do payments work?
Every engagement begins with a written contract in English and Spanish detailing scope and full investment. A reservation deposit secures your date, and the balance follows scheduled planning milestones — never a single upfront lump sum. Payments are made by international wire transfer to a formal business account, with a receipt issued for every transaction.
What is not included?
Your flights, your guests' flights and accommodation, attire, rings, and any personal shopping. Everything required to produce the wedding itself is inside your quote. If something falls outside it, you will see that in writing before you sign, not after.
